Clients are the largest organizational units in an Automic Automation system. They define self-contained environments that you can configure to depict your business as best suits you. Multiple Clients share the same Automation Engine instance (Automic Automation's backend) on the same hardware, but do not access the same data.
Clients are uniquely identified by a four-digit number between 0000 and 9999. When you log in, you must log into a specific Client.
As an administrator, you add, edit, activate, deactivate and delete Clients from Client 0 only. You can add Clients either from the Process Assembly or from the Administration perspective. As soon as you create the Client, it is moved to its environment.
Administrator Users of specific Clients can edit the Client definition. The Client object is stored in the <No Folder> directory located in the Process Assembly perspective.
Note: The Client object cannot be moved out of <No Folder> because it is the base for all other objects within the Client and must be always at root level.
Configuring the Client
A Client definition is made up of the following pages:
- Standard pages that are always available, no matter what type of object you are defining:
- The object-specific page described here.
Defining the Client Attributes
Specify the following:
-
TimeZone
Select the Time Zone object that will be applied to all the tasks processed in the Client for which no specific Time Zone is defined. If you do not enter a value here, the UTC of the Automation Engine applies. For more information, see Time Zone (TZ).
-
Monitoring
Activate this checkbox if you want to initiate the SNMP monitoring of this Client. For more information, see
SNMP Support.
-
Additional info
Any text that you deem appropriate regarding MIB monitoring.
Defining the Client Settings
Automic Automation provides predefined Client variables (VARA objects) that let you configure the Clients and control its behavior. You add the variables and specify the Key/Value that you want to apply to the Client in the Client Setting table.
For a list with detailed descriptions of the available Client settings, see
UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS - Various Client Settings.
