Service Level Objective - Service Selection

Defining an SLO object consists of three pages. On this page you define the beneficiary of the service and the service (objects to be monitored) itself.

Service Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries are entities such as departments, business units, etc. that require the executable objects to be processed according to the criteria defined in the agreement. They could be, for example, a payroll department that is interested in the results of a particular job.

In the Automation Engine, they are the Custom Attributes custom attributes that administrator users define in the UC_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTES variable when configuring the system. For more information, see UC_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTES - Grouping Criteria in Executable Objects.

There are three possible scenarios when defining the beneficiaries:

Service Selection

This is the object filter. You specify here the objects that must render the results stipulated in the Service Level Agreement. You can specify individual objects and groups of objects.

Important! The minimum input required here is either the Service Name or the Service Type. However, the more specific you define the object filter, the better the results and performance.

To Define the Service Selection

  1. Define the Services Beneficiaries.

    They can be any of the custom attributes that administrator users define in the UC_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTES variable when configuring the system. For more information, see UC_CUSTOM_ATTRIBUTES - Grouping Criteria in Executable Objects.

    1. Select the area that can benefit from the service. This could be a region or a business unit.
    2. Select a Value, which can be specific departments, business units, etc. within the selected area.
    3. Click Add to include this combination in the list of beneficiaries.
    4. Repeat this with as many areas and values as you need.
  2. The Service Selection section is a filter where you specify the objects or groups of objects that will be monitored by the SLO object

    1. From the dropdown list at the top select one of the following:

      • All - all objects and groups of objects inserted below must fulfill the criteria.
      • Any - at least one of the objects and groups of objects inserted below must fulfill the criteria.
    2. Click Add Criterion to insert one single object in the filter or Add Group to insert multiple objects.

      In the case of groups, a dedicated filter box is embedded in the overall filter definition, where you can add objects or groups of objects as well.

    3. When you click Add Criterion a filter box opens where you select the object

      1. From the Attribute dropdown list select the parameter you want to use to filter the affected objects. If you select Queue, all the objects processed by that queue will be monitored.
      2. In Operation select the operator that will evaluate the value.
      3. Enter the Value that identifies the object.
      4. Click OK.
  3. Repeat these steps with as many objects or groups of objects as you need.
  4. Save your changes.
