Setting Up a Distributed Server Environment

The following steps will help you set up a distributed server environment. As a system administrator, you use this functionality to set up your system using more than one server node.

Notes:

To Set Up a Distributed Server Environment

  1. Install the Automation Engine on the relevant server computers, see Installing the Automation Engine (AE).

  2. Adjust the INI file of the Automation Engine to your system environment, see Automation Engine.

Pay special attention to the following parameters:

    • nodename= in the [GLOBAL] section
    • bindAddr= and hostName= in the [TCP/IP] section
    • name= in the [DB_SERVICE] section

Important! Make sure that all other INI file settings are the same for all server nodes.

As of version 12.3, the assignment of process numbers has changed. Make sure to consider it when upgrading your distributed server environment. For more information, see Types of Server Processes and Checking for Incompatibilities between Version 12.2 and 12.3.

If you have installed the ServiceManager, you may use the ServiceManager Dialog Program to start or stop AE server processes. For more information, see Starting and Ending Server Processes.
