Working with Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence Jobs
You can create Jobs to run Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence reports through Business Objects using a Business Objects Job.
Procedure
To create a Business Objects Job for Crystal Reports or Web Intelligence:
- Add a new a Job by picking Business Objects > Default as your Job type.
- On the Attributes page, select your Business Objects Agent.
- On the Business Objects page use the folder icon next to the Report field to select a report for the Job to run.
- To allow multiple values in a single prompt, click the Multiple Semi-Colon Separated Values box.
- If prompts are defined for the Job, optionally edit prompts and/or view their details.
- Optionally specify Business Objects options by selecting the Options menu item and responding the fields described below.

- Optionally select a destination to send the Job's output to by selecting the Destination menu item, picking a destination from the Type field and responding to the destination types fields as described below.
- Default: Uses the settings specified in the Central Management Console.
- Email: Allows you to email the output to one or more addresses.
- In the To field, type or use the Select button to choose addresses to send an email with a link to the report. Separate email addresses with a ; and space. If the Attach Report checkbox is unchecked, email recipients will receive a link to the report.
- If the Attach Report box is checked, the report file will be attached to the email. This checkbox is only available if the Allow Email Attachments checkbox is checked in the Agent definition. For more information, see Configuring the Business Objects Agent.
- You can also optionally specify:
- The email subject in the Subject box.
- The email message text in the Message box.
- Whether to attach the report, by checking the Attach Report checkbox and specifying the file name in the Attachment Name field. The default file name is the title of the report and file extension.
- Title: %SI_NAME%
- Owner: %SI_OWNER%
- Date Time: %SI_START_TIME%
- FTP: Select a Business Objects FTP destination Connection object from the Destination drop-down box and specify the name for the output file in the File Name field.
- Title: %SI_NAME%
- Owner: %SI_OWNER%
- Date Time: %SI_START_TIME%
Once you select a report, the Business Objects Agent populates the read-only Report, Folder, Description, and Report Kind fields from the Business Objects database based on the report you selected.
Folders that have / symbols in their names are not supported.
If the Business Objects report you are defining a Job for includes prompts, they are also populated in the Prompts section when you select the report.
When this box is checked, you can enter multiple semi-colon separated values directory into prompts or by using variables for Automation Engine or substitution variables for Applications Manager.
The Multiple Semi-Colon Separated Values box is unchecked by default to allow you to use semi-colons in prompts for other reasons.
Overrides the report name in Business Objects.
Determines the format of the output.

Select or type email addresses to send a notification to if the Job finishes successfully. Separate email addresses with a ; and space.

Select a Business Objects user to run the report as.

Issues a Business Objects audit when the Job finishes successfully.

The Replacements combo box for the Subject and Attachment Name fields allow you to insert the following replacement values into the name string:
In order to email output, email must be added for your report type in the Business Objects Central Management Console. Email is added in the Central Management Console under Server Categories by going to each report type, then picking Job Server and Destination and adding email and specifying parameters.
