Avoiding Schedule Creep with the Reschedule From Option

After a job or process flow using the Weekly or Monthly frequency runs, the values in the following fields are evaluated to determine a new Next run date on the General tab:

The Reschedule From field is used to create schedules that run on days such as the first Friday after the 15th of every month. If left blank, the process flow is rescheduled based on the day it ran, and you can get 'schedule creep' where the value for the Next run date moves back or ahead several days each time the process flow runs. For an example of how this option is used, see the example titled "Run a Process Flow the First Wednesday After the Fifteenth of Each Month at 11 P.M." in Example Schedules.

Determining How Applications Manager Handles Skipped Days

The Exception method group box is displayed when you select Weekly, Monthly, or Fiscal in the Units group box. The method you select determines how Applications Manager will handle days that are skipped by a skip calendar or are included on the schedule's Exceptions tab.

The Exception method options are described below:

Option: The task will:

Next weekday

Run the next weekday, whether the job or process flow is scheduled that day or not.

Next day

Run the next day, whether the job or process flow is scheduled that day or not. It does not matter if the next day is a weekday or a weekend day.

Closest weekday

Run on the closest weekday, whether the job or process flow is scheduled that day or not. The closest weekday for any Friday is Thursday. For all other days, it is the following day.

Prior day

Run the previous day, whether the job or process flow is scheduled that day or not. It does not matter if the previous day is a weekday or a weekend day.

Prior checked day

Run the previous checked day of the week. You might want to use this setting if you have a job or process flow that runs once a week on Thursdays, and you want it to run on Tuesdays if it is skipped. To do this you would check both Tuesday and Thursday, and use the Reschedule From field to make sure the job or process flow usually runs on Thursday.
