Understanding Program Type Objects

A program type is an Applications Manager object that specifies how Applications Manager will interface with an application. The program type is part of a job definition.

In every job, there is a field called Type that must be filled in for the job to run correctly. The drop-down list in this field displays a number of predefined program types that support most applications that you may need to interface with Applications Manager. A program type defines:

• The format used to write prompts to the par (pr<seq_no>.sh) file.
• Login specifications.
• The name of the host command (program type script).
• A portion of the path for the program.
• The program's file extension.

In the image below, the AWSQLP program type is assigned to the EMPLOYEE_REPORT job.
