Renaming Objects/Folders
Renaming objects and/or folders is always possible, whether they are linked to other objects or not
The following rules apply when you rename an object:
- Object names can consist of up to 200 characters and can include the following characters: A–Z, 0–9 and $ @ _- . #
- The only exception is the name of time zones (TZ), which may consist of up to 8 characters only.
Renaming Objects that Are Used in other Objects
If the object is used in other objects, for example in a Workflow or in a Schedule object, the system prompts you to define whether the object should also be renamed in these objects.
-
Rename All
The name of the object is changed everywhere.
-
Rename this object only
If a workflow uses the same task several times, all these tasks are replaced.
Renaming Individual Objects or Folders
If the object is not used anywhere else, you simply change its name and click Rename.
The dialog for renaming folders is almost identical to this one; it only differs in its caption.
Exceptions
There are two restrictions to the renaming function:
- Entries can only be replaced in Include objects and Process tabs if the administrator has activated the SEARCH_SCRIPT_FOR_USAGE key in the variable UC_CLIENT_SETTINGS. Otherwise, a warning is displayed.
- Users that are part of a User Group cannot be renamed. This is a security measure that serves to prevent a regular user from being assigned to a group that has administrator rights. However, you can rename users in other objects, such as Notifications.
