Live Preview of Job Reports (REP)

You can not only open the reports when the jobs have ended and their reports have been written to the Automation Engine database, but you can also preview them while the jobs are still running.

While a job is still running on an agent, the Report (REP) is written but not yet transferred to the Automation Engine database. Once the job is finished, the complete report is transferred and available in the Reports window. If you configured the job to store the reports as files not in the database but on the agent, the system looks for and opens them from the agent.

However, there are cases in which you may want to see this report and check the status of the active job before it has finished. No matter where you configured the reports to be stored, whether on the agent or in the database, you can always open the reports of active jobs while still running.

An internal auto-refresh function is implemented that guarantees that data is up-to-date. Its logarithm considers potential slow connections, thus ensuring fast response times under almost all circumstances. In addition, you can manually refresh this view:

Easy and Fast Access to the Most Recent Report Data

When you select Report (REP), the Show latest output button is enabled. This is necessary if you are dealing with large reports because the latest information is added at the bottom of the file; this is probably the data your are most interested in. If a report extends over many pages, you can easily access the latest information by simply clicking this button. This opens the last page of the report and scrolls automatically to the last position.

Manually refreshing the page if this option is activated is not possible.

In case of reports that exceed 10MB, before opening them the systems prompts you to decide what you want to see, whether the first (oldest) or the last (newest) lines:

Switching between Reports While the Report is Running

It is not necessary to stay on this window while the report is running. If you need to, you can switch to other reports or even to other pages without losing any data or having to start the report anew. When you come back to this report, the system knows where you left it the last time and opens it in exactly the same page and scroll position.
