Overview of the Automic Web Interface
The Automic Web Interface is a browser-based application that provides a web interface to access all functions. It is divided into various perspectives that have a similar pane structure. This topic describes how to navigate among perspectives and how to access the available functions.
This page includes the following:
Menu Bar
The menu bar at the top of your screen provides access to the following functions:
Home icon
Click it to open the Dashboards perspective, which is the only perspective that is always available, regardless of your privileges.
Perspectives
You have access to other perspectives according to your user rights and privileges.
Notifications
The notification area has two buttons:
Global Search
The global search is the fastest way to search for objects, object dependencies and tasks. See Global Search and Advanced Search.
Session information and access to user settings
This area displays the following session information: User name, department, Automation Engine system, and Client to which you are logged on. Click the arrow on the upper right corner of your screen area to expand a list with further options. See Session and User Settings.
Perspectives are functional areas that provide access to the functions to which you have access. These functions depend on your user role.
Administration perspective
- Target audience: Administrator users
- Purpose: Centrally manage Users and User Groups, perform administration activities such as connections, manage Agents and Clients, and many more administrative operations.
This functional area is visible and accessible only to users with administrator rights. See Administering the Automation Engine.
Process Assembly perspective
- Target audience: Developers, object and Workflow designers
- Purpose: Create and define objects and folders, design them, start executions, open execution data.

Process Monitoring perspective
- Target audience: Operators (business users) and managers
- Purpose: Monitor, influence and analyze active and ended tasks. Troubleshoot tasks that ended abnormally.

My Catalog
- Target audience: Operators (business users) and managers

Purpose: Provides an overview and access to the tasks, objects, and folders that users are authorized to see and work with.
Users can start their executable objects, monitor their current tasks, review past runs, and see the execution data and report.

Dashboards
- Target audience: Operators, managers
- Purpose: Open dashboards with one or more windows (widgets) with different kinds of information and links on one page. They give you quick access to favorite views. Depending on your rights, you can also add dashboards of your own.

Working with the Perspectives

To open a perspective
- Click + next to the Home icon.
- Select a perspective from the drop-down list.
The perspective is displayed and its button is visible on the menu bar.

To switch from one perspective to another
The menu bar displays the buttons that correspond to the perspectives that you have already opened. The perspective that you have last opened is displayed. To change to another perspective, click its button.

To hide a perspective, hover your mouse over its name to activate the perspective button and click x.
When you log out, a dialog is displayed that asks you whether you want to save the open tabs. If you click Save, the open perspectives are visible the next time you log in.
