Live Preview of Job Reports (REP)

While a Job is still running on an Agent, the Report (REP) is written but not yet transferred to the Automation Engine database. Once the Job is finished, the complete report is transferred and available in the Reports window. If you configured the job to store the reports as files not in the database but on the Agent, the system looks for and opens them from the Agent.

However, there are cases in which you may want to see this report and check the status of the active Job before it has finished. No matter where you configured the reports to be stored, whether on the Agent or in the database, you can always open the reports of active Jobs while still running.

Opening the Job Report

Easy and Fast Access to the Most Recent Report Data

When you select Report (REP), if the information sent by the backend is already available, the Show latest output button is enabled as long as the report is still loading.

This button is very useful when dealing with large reports because the latest information is added at the bottom of the file. This is probably the data you are most interested in. If a report extends over many pages, you can easily access the latest information by simply clicking it. This opens the last page of the report and scrolls automatically to the last position.

Note: If this options is activated, manually refreshing the page is not possible.

In case of reports that exceed 10MB, before opening them the system prompts you to decide what you want to see, whether the first (oldest) or the last (newest) lines.

Switching between Reports While the Report is Running

It is not necessary to stay on this window while the report is running. If you need to, you can switch to other reports or even to other pages without losing any data or having to start the report anew. When you come back to this report, the system knows where you left it the last time and opens it in exactly the same page and scroll position.

Detaching the Reports Window

When viewing the output of your reports, particularly in case of active tasks, you may want to react immediately and, therefore, you need to switch to a different window. However, the Reports is displayed on the foreground blocking all other views.

You can detach it by clicking the button. This opens the report in a different browser window that you can move to another position on your screen. This allows you to keep it open and running while you can continue working with the system.
