Example: Working with Multiple Connections

As a system administrator, you are configuring the Client landscape in your Automation Engine system. This task involves working on Client 0 and other Clients because you are creating Users and User Groups and because you are setting Client-specific variables. You log in to Client 0 and, without closing this session, you open new connections. You log in to different Clients simultaneously to configure them.

If necessary, you can open objects and lists in new browser tabs and browser windows for each Client. To help you differentiate which tabs and windows belong to which Client, assign a different color to each Client.

  1. In Client 0, open the session and settings drop-down list at the top right corner of the Automic Web Interface.
  2. Select New Connection. A new browser tab opens up and displays the login dialog.
  3. Enter your credentials for the new Client. A new connection to the Automation Engine is established.
  4. Detach the browser tabs by selecting and dragging them to a different area on your screen. Then, arrange them side-by-side.

Although this example illustrates a typical use case for system administrators, this feature is available across the entire system. Therefore, all users can profit from it, provided they have access rights to multiple Clients.
