Working with Clients

Right-click the client to open the context-menu and access the available functions. On the toolbar you find buttons that provide quick access to some of them.

Note: It is also possible to select more than one client and right-click to perform some operations in bulk.

You can open reports and access historical data. For more information, see Reports for Clients and Execution Data respectively.

Enabling and Disabling Automatic Processing

After creating a client, it is deactivated. You can define objects, design Workflows, and so on, but you cannot execute them. To be able to execute objects, you must first activate the client. To do so, right-click it and select GO - Enable Automatic Processing. From then on, tasks can be processed.

The client status changes immediately. You see whether automatic processing is activated or not in the in the Active column of the list of Clients in the Administration perspective.

You deactivate one or more clients by right-clicking it and selecting STOP - Disable Automatic Processing.

Deleting Clients

You can use the AE DB Client Copy utility to delete a client. For more information, see AE DB Client Copy.

In Client 0, you can also delete a client directly from the Automic Web Interface.

Note: You cannot delete more than one client at the time and you cannot delete an active client. Also, the client cannot have active users nor active tasks.

To delete a client, right-click it an select Delete. Once you have triggered the deletion, a notification is displayed and the status in the Active column changes. The client is also listed in the Client History page, were you can follow the deleting process displayed in the Status column.

In the list of Clients, you can right-click a client that is being deleted to view it in the Client History page. In this case, the content of the page is filtered and displays only information pertinent to the client you have selected. Otherwise, the page displays information about all the deleted clients in your system.

Client History List

The following columns are displayed by default:

  • Client

  • Name

  • Type

  • Status

    Status of the client deleting process

  • RunID

    RunID of the client deletion

  • Users

    User name of the user that deleted the client

  • Start Time

    Start time of the run or the individual client deletion

  • End Time

    End time of the run or the individual client deletion

  • Runtime

    Duration of the client deleting process

In the toolbar, the buttons Export and Refresh are available by default. These buttons allow you to refresh the content of the table and export it as a CSV file.

Filtering the Contents of the List

The filter pane allows you to customize the results displayed on the Client History page. The following filter options are available:

  • RunID

    Search for the RunID of a specific client deletion.

  • Status

    Activate the checkbox of the status you are interested in. You can select one or more status.

  • Time Frame

    Use this option to find deletions that have been processed within the period of time specified.

    Possible options:

    • No Time Frame (Default)

      Leave it if you do not want to set a time restriction to your filter

    • All Tasks in Time Frame

      Displays all the tasks which execution starts, ends or runs within the time frame you are about to define

    • Task Activation

      Displays all the tasks that were activated within the time frame you are about to define

    • Task Start

      Displays all the tasks that started within the time frame you are about to define

    • Task End

      Displays all the tasks that ended within the time frame you are about to define

  • Name

    Enter the client name to search for a particular client.

  • User

    Search for deletions initiated by certain users, either with full or partial user names. You can also:

      Select Exclude to filter by user names that do not contain the search term.

      Select Current User to show deletions that have been initiated with the user credentials of the current user.

Copying Clients

You cannot copy a client from the Automic Web Interface. For this purpose, you must use the AE DB Client Copy utility. For more information, see AE DB Client Copy.
