AE DB Unload

Administrators use the AE DB Unload utility (ucybdbun) to unload data from the AE database. You can unload specific database tables or all tables, reorganize your database, reset archive or reorganize flags. You can also unload the transport case, or even unload all objects of one or all your clients.

Important!

  • DB Unload allows you to unload data from the AE database. AE.DB Unload writes data with UTF-8 encoding into the transport case file.

  • It is strongly recommended to run the AE DB Unload utility in reorganization mode for every client and not just once.

Tip! This utility automatically creates and updates the UC_UTILITY_UNLOAD variable. No manual interaction is required. For details, see UC_UTILITY_DB_UNLOAD - Executed Reorganization Runs.

This page includes the following:

Overview

The utility lists the tables of the AE database in its left window half and shows the available actions in its right window half. During the unloading process, the utility generates a text file that includes all the relevant data including data with UTF8 encoding. It is stored in the output folder that you define in the INI file entry OUTPUT=. You can use this file to load your data again with the AE DB Load utility. For more information, see Utility DB Unload.

Restart the utility after each unloading process if you want to start another unloading process.

Available Actions

  • Select all / Unselect all

Select or deselects the database tables that are listed in the left window half of the utility.

  • Export selected table

You can select one or more individual tables and export them.

  • Export all data

    Exports all database tables

  • Reorganize database

Removes all data that has been marked either with an archive flag by using the AE DB Archive utility or with a deletion marker by using AE DB Reorg. This is a system-wide process that applies to all clients. For more information, see AE DB Archive and AE DB Reorg.

Database reorganization includes the objects that are in the Recycle Bin of the Explorer window, statistical data and the corresponding reports.

  • Reset archive flags

Resets the archive flags of one or all clients.

  • Reset reorg flags

Resets the reorg flags of one or all clients.

  • Unload transport container

You can unload objects that have been moved to the Transport Case (see Transport Case). A dialog opens in which you select whether the export refers to only one client or to all of them.

  • Unload all objects

Unloads the objects of one or all clients. In this case, you do not have to move them to the Transport Case before.

Possible Errors and Messages

The AE DB Unload utility checks the folder structure of the Explorer. It prints the U0021148 message to the log file if it finds corrupt folder connections. Call the utility with the -BREPAIR start parameter in such situations to have the folder structure automatically corrected. For details, see AE DB Unload (UCYBDBUN.EXE)
