Archive Browser
The Archive Browser (ucybarbr) shows information about archived data records. This makes it easy for you to trace your processes even after your database has been archived and reorganized. By using filters, you can limit the displayed data records according to your requirements. The Archive Browser is available for Windows computers only and its user interface is available in English. For more information, see AE DB Archive and AE DB Reorg.
Important! The Archive Browser does not support UTF-8. It can neither display UTF-8/multi-byte characters, nor can you search for UTF-8 strings such as archive keys.
This page includes the following:
Searching for Archived Data
- In the Browser Filter area, define whether you search for statistical data, reports, messages, or comments.
- Select the archive folder. Either specify the main folder (C:\Archiving, for example), a specific folder of a client (C:\Archiving\0098, for example), or a folder of a specific archiving run (C:\Archiving\0098\UC_ARCHIV_20060621_25, for example). The search automatically includes all subfolders.
- Limit your search results in Max Lines where you can specify a maximum value for lines that should be found. Values up to 9999 are possible. This search can take a while, depending on the amount of data that should be searched and the specified maximum number of hits. You can cancel this procedure by clicking Esc. In this case, only the data records already found will be displayed.

Search Results
All data records matching your specified criteria are listed in the table area in the center of the Archive Browser's user interface. You can sort them in ascending or descending order by clicking on a column title. Double-clicking the separator lines of a column title aligns the column width to the column's longest field content. The column titles of the table relate to the search fields you specify in the Browser Filter area. Additionally, the following information is displayed:
- Statistics: Date and time of activation
- Reports: Date and time of report creation and size in bytes
- Messages: Date and time of the message, component that has created the message, message category and type
Clicking on a line in the table area shows detailed information about it in the data area. A context menu allows you to export the contents to a text file or to search for a specific content.
The Archive Browser provides basic operations for analyzing the AE archive files. You are allowed to modify this program as you like if you require additional functions. The Microsoft Visual Basic source code of the Archive Browser is provided as is in the AE image folder "IMAGE:TOOLS\SOURCE\UCYBARBR".
