User Groups let you collect Users and assign them identical authorizations and privileges. This helps you simplify administrative tasks. You can add as many User Groups as you need. Users can be assigned to as many User Groups as needed.

Note: User and User Group lists are only visible to Users with the Access to Administration privilege.

As an administrator, you can assign a User to one or more User Groups from two AWI areas:

  • From the Assigned Users sub-page that opens when you select a User Group, for example:

  • From the UserGroups sub-page that is available in the User definition, for example:

Assigning Users to a User Group when Defining a User Group

To Assign a User to a User Group

  1. In the Administration perspective go to User Groups and open the group that you want to assign the User to. The Assigned Users page is displayed.

  2. Click the Assign Users button in the toolbar.

  3. On the Assign User dialog select one or more Users and select the Assign Users button at the bottom to assign them to the group.

The User will automatically have all rights and permissions that you define for any of the groups that the User belongs to. However, any rights and permissions that you define for the User in the other parts of the User definition apply only to the User, not to any of the groups.

  1. On the Assigned Users page, click the Remove button in the toolbar.

  2. Save your changes.

Tip: You may need to work with many objects, lists and monitors simultaneously. To make your work easier, you can open them in different browser windows and arrange them side by side on your screen.
