Working with the Reports View

The Reports view gives you access to multiple report types and logs created by Automic Automation during object execution. This view does not refresh automatically. If a new execution happens after you have opened it, you must press the refresh button to see the corresponding report. From this view you also access reports created for Agents, Clients, and so forth.

This page includes the following:

Selecting the Type of Reports to Display

Depending on the object or task you have selected, different types of reports are available. You access all of them from the drop-down list at the top of the window.

For more information, see Types of Reports.

Showing the Report's Latest Output

Available for Job reports of type Report (REP) only.

Job reports (REP) can be very long. If their content extends over multiple pages, if you click the Show latest output button while the Job is still executing, you jump to the bottom of the report.

For more information, see Accessing the Latest Report Data.

Understanding the Color-Coding in Reports

Automic Automation's reports help you easily distinguish the information that they contain by using specific colors for specific pieces of content, such as errors, system messages, variables, links, and so on. Color coding increases the understandability and readability of the reports, which can be very long and complex. The following screenshot shows a report and the colors that are consistently applied to its elements (click to expand):

The following colors are used to help you distinguish the information:

  • Green indicates the execution timestamp and the Java ID thread.

Example: In 20250110/013635.857 - 278, 20250110 is the date, 013635.857 is the time including miliseconds and 278 is theJava ID thread.

  • Red is used in the following situations:

    • To highlight lines that indicate errors.

    • To indicate that this is a system message.

  • Black is used for the descriptive text.

  • Blue is used for links. All object names and runIDs are links. Click an object name to open the source object in the Process Assembly perspective or a runID to open the corresponding execution in the Process Monitoring perspective.

  • Yellow indicates that this is a resolved variable.

Pagination in the Report View

Large reports are split into several pages. Use the backward and forward arrows to scroll through the pages. Alternatively, select the page from the Page drop-down list.

Sharing Reports with Other Users

You can share reports with other users by sending them the URL. These users must have the right to view the object to which the report refers.

For more information, see To Share a View.

Analyzing the Content of Reports Using Gen AI

Automic Automation lets you analyze the content of the reports and have a conversation in natural language with Automic Automation's Gen AI directly from the Reports view. For more information, see Analyzing Reports with the Automation AI Assistant.
