Check Windows User Services

Accessible when selecting a UVMS node or not (in the latter case, only if the list contains only one UVMS), this tool applies to Dollar Universe v5 (with the upgrade status "Ready to upgrade) and v6 nodes on Windows. It allows the user to check that declared submission accounts are mapped to a Windows User Service and eventually to install or change it.

The Check Windows User Services tool can only be accessed by a user (login) with UVMS Node Administration rights.

The use of this tool by the upgrade procedure from V5 to V6 is described in the Dollar Universe Upgrade Guide. This paragraph only describes this tool for Dollar Universe V6 nodes.

With Dollar Universe V6, a Windows User Service is created automatically once the Submission Account is declared (Design mode > Environment > Accounts). If the user is not LocalSystem his password is required. In case of failure to create the Windows service user, the account submission can still be saved.

Toolbar

The toolbar allows several actions on the user services displayed:

• Start or Stop

  Starts or stops the Windows user service

• Install

  Installs a Windows user service for the selected Submission Account. A password is required if the user is not LocalSystem.

  To install a Windows User Service, select the Install option from the toolbar. A pop-up window will appear letting the user know the password entered is used to create an associated service and will not be stored. Enter the password for the user. Select OK the install the user service or Cancel to exit the window.

• Uninstall

  Uninstalls the Windows user service. The password isn't required

• Update user service

  Updates the password of a user service that is not LocalSystem

Each of these actions can be applied to multiple Submission Accounts simultaneously.

Display options

Select from the following options to view the Windows user services for all nodes or nodes from a specific Company or Node View.

• All Nodes

  Displays all submission accounts from all nodes known to UVMS

• Node

  Displays all submission accounts from the selected node:

  • Company

    Select the Company name from the drop-down list

  • Name

    Select the node name from the drop-down list

• Node View

  Displays all submission accounts from all nodes in the selected Node View

Submission accounts / services list

This list presents:

• The submission account name.
• The company and node name of the node the Submission Account is defined on.
• The System User name used for the Submission Account and his domain.
• If the User Service is installed or not and its status (Stopped or Running).

Once the Windows User Service is installed on a node, the “User Service” will change to “Installed” and his status will change to “Running”.
