Automic Automation / SAP BTP Agent Integration
SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) is a cloud platform that provides a range of services to help businesses build, extend, and run their applications. SAP BTP includes services for application development and automation, data and analytics, integration, and artificial intelligence (AI).
SAP BTP can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
-
Building new applications: SAP BTP provides a set of tools and services that can be used to build new applications from scratch. These tools and services include low-code/no-code development tools, serverless computing, and container orchestration.
-
Extending existing applications: SAP BTP can be used to extend existing applications, such as SAP ERP and SAP CRM. You can do so by adding new features and functionality to the applications, or by integrating them with other applications.
-
Running mission-critical applications: SAP BTP is a highly reliable and secure platform that can be used to run mission-critical applications. SAP BTP provides a range of features to ensure the performance and security of applications, such as high availability, disaster recovery, and data encryption.
Integrating Automic Automation with SAP BTP allows you to schedule and monitor jobs for any of the Service Instances that exist on the SAP BTP Cockpit and are bound to an application.
The Agents and the Automation Engine communicate using TLS/SSL, which requires the use of trusted certificates to verify the identity of the respective communication partners.
When an Agent communicates with an on-premises Automic Automation system, it establishes the connection to the Java communication process (JCP). When communicating with the Automic Automation Kubernetes Edition, it established the connection to an ingress / HTTPS load balancer. Regardless of the environment you use, you have to make sure that you have the required certificates in place.
Make sure you are familiar with the TLS/SSL and certificate implementation before installing and/or upgrading the respective component. For more information, see the Automic Automation documentation at:
This integration capability, like all integrations of the Automic system, can support service orchestration Workflows. Such Workflows orchestrate automated processes that run across multiple platforms, domains, and applications to deliver a specific IT service. For more information, see About Service Orchestration in the Automic Automation help, which is available on docs.automic.com.
Release Cycles
The release cycles of this Agent Integration are independent of the Automic Automation ones.
For more information, see Compatibility Information.
Important Consideration
To implement (install and configure) and work with the SAP BTP Agent Integration (run and monitor Jobs and include them in other Automic Automation objects), a sound knowledge of Automic Automation is required.
If you are new to Automic Automation, we strongly recommend that you take the following courses before beginning with this integration:
For all users:
For administrators:
-
Automic Automation v21 Administration Foundations (installation)
-
Automic Automation v21 Administration Standard (configuration)
For developers and object designers
This documentation describes how to set up the integration and how to work with SAP BTPJobs:
