Configuring CA7 Schedulers (Thick Client)

To integrate AAI and CA7, a Data Feed mechanism must be implemented on the mainframe. The recommended method of doing this is to install the CA7 Server for AAI. Alternatively you can use Batch job executions to provide the data feed needed. Once this is done, you can add the CA7 scheduler and establish the connection so that data delivery can start. This topic explains how to add CA7 schedulers from the thick client.

Note:

To add a CA7 system into AAI, the integration between both must be completed. For this purpose you implement either the CA7 Server for AAI (and then start it) or the batch integration.

For more information see:

With the integration data feed mechanism in place, a set of definition data files and at least one RPT70 file are created in the Data Delivery Path. Once this is done you can proceed with adding a CA7 scheduler. The Data Delivery Path specified must already exist on the AAI server.

  1. On the Schedulers page, click the plus button (+) on the right above the list of schedulers.

  2. The New Scheduler window opens.

  3. Enter a Scheduler Name that is unique to your AAI installation.

  4. Select CA7 as the Scheduler Type.

  5. Enter the following information:

    • Host Name

Enter the specific string <file> to identify that the CA7 Server for AAI delivers the various CA7 data files to the target location on the AAI Server system.

    • Port

Default value: The standard FTP Port number 21.

Leave the default value here, as this field is not used when <file> is specified as the Host value. It must contain a numeric value.

    • FTP User

This field must contain a value but as it is not used when <file> is specified in the Host Name field, the value can be any alphanumeric string.

    • Password

This field must contain a value but as it is not used when <file> is specified in the Host Name field, the value can be any alphanumeric string.

    • Trigger DSN

Complete path to the target directory on the AAI Server system where the CA7 Server for AAI system or the Batch Executions delivers the Event and Definition Data files. This must match the value specified in the CA7 Server for AAI Configuration Settings for the AAI Server in the CA7 Data Path field. For more information, see Configuring an Instance of the CA7 Server for AAI.

    • Report Base DSN

This field must contain the string RPT70, which is the prefix value for the Event Data files that the CA7 Server for AAI delivers to the target location.

  6. Click the Test Connection button to validate your entries.

  7. If the test succeeds, click the OK button.
