Searching for Jobs (Thick Client)

The global job search feature of the AAI thick client not only finds jobs across your entire scheduler landscape that match your search criteria, but it also allows you to take actions on jobs directly from the search results list of jobs. This topic how to use the search feature to find jobs based on any combination of job property values and job run statuses that you specify, how to modify the results table, and what actions that you can take on jobs from the results table.

The results list is a good starting point when you investigate the jobs based on their properties and their run details.

To Search for Jobs

  1. Go to Tools > Job Search.

  2. Click on the Select Property button to open the Select Job Property window, where all job properties are listed either by category (business area) or by name.

  3. Select one or more job properties and click OK.

  4. Use the operators to enter your search criteria.

  5. Click on the Search button.

    The resulting list of matching jobs appears in a table in the lower part of the Job Search window.

     

To Modify the Search Results Table

When you search for jobs, a table appears in the lower part of the Job Search window listing the jobs that match your search criteria. To better view the job properties that you want to see, you can modify the table columns in the following ways:

  • Sort: Click a column header to sort the table by the values in that column. Click again to switch the sort order between ascending and descending.
  • Reorder columns: Click and drag a column header to move it another place on the table.
  • Resize a column in one of two ways:
    • Click and drag the border of a column header to change the column width.
    • Right-click a column header and select Auto-size Column.
  • Remove a column: Right-click a column header and select Remove Column.
  • Add columns: Right-click a column header and select Job Properties or Job Run Properties to locate the properties you want to add to the table.

To Take an Action on the Jobs in the Search Results Table

When you search for jobs, a table appears in the lower part of the Job Search window listing the jobs that match your search criteria. You can take a number of actions directly on the job list or on a specific job in the list.

Right-click a job in the list and select an action:

  • Copy Table: Copy the entire table to the clipboard.

  • Copy Job Name: Copy the job name to the clipboard.

  • Create Jobstream: Create a new jobstream where the selected job is the target job.

  • New Predicted Duration: Open a dialog where you can define a new predicted duration for the job runs

  • Custom actions: If there are custom actions defined in your system that apply to the job, they are listed here. Click one to open the custom action definition.

  • WCC event actions (if applicable):

    • Open WCC Quick View

    • Open WCC Send Event View

    • WCC Info

    Note:

    The CA Workload Control Center (WCC) integration only supports WCC version R11.1 or earlier. By default, the WCC Integration is disabled and the menu items above are invisible. AAI administrators can make them visible by manually enabling the WCC integration using the Configuration Tool - Params tab. This is done by locating the client.wccServerIntegrationEnabled parameter under less commonly configured and changing its value to True.

    About Create Send Event for AutoSys: If your AutoSys scheduler version is higher than R11.3 and you have the required permissions, the Send Events for the specific job will be available to you in the menu. Possible options include: STARTJOB, FORCE_STARTJOB, KILLJOB, JOB_ON_ICE, JOB_OFF_ICE, JOB_ON_HOLD, JOB_OFF_HOLD, DELETEJOB. In addition, the following CHANGE_STATUS statuses will also be available: SUCCESS, FAILURE, INACTIVE, RUNNING, TERMINATED, and STARTING.
