Setting User Preferences

This page guides you through setting different preferences for your AAI instance. You can set your preferences for the time zone that you want to use, your default business areas, and viewing the Gantt chart.

Important!
  • AAIs Preferences are available only in the thick client. Once defined, preferences persist from one session to another for each user.

  • While the preferences that you set for the time zone and the default business areas apply to the thick client and the new Web UI, the Gantt chart view options apply only to the thick client.

This page includes the following:

Setting the Time Zone

The time zone of the schedulers that AAI monitors might not necessarily be located in the same time zone in which your AAI instance is installed. By default, AAI displays all times that relate to a specific scheduler (jobs and their jobstreams) in the time zone that is defined in that particular scheduler. The times that do not relate to a specific scheduler are displayed in the time zone that you select in the Preferences dialog.

To set the time zone, do the following:

  1. On the thick client, go to File > Preferences.

  2. On the Preferences dialog the Time Zone tab is displayed by default.

  3. In Scheduler-specific dates/times you have two options:

    • Use scheduler's time zone when applicable (default). If selected, the following applies:

      • Jobstream dates and times are displayed in the scheduler's time zone.

      • Your preferred time zone will only be used in the following: As Of Time (Monitoring panel), alert times, business area cycle filtering and user login times.

    • Always use preferred time zone

Your preferred time zone is used everywhere.

  4. In Preferred time zone select a time zone from the list. If you do not see the one you need, select Show all time zones to expand the list.

  5. Click OK. This setting is stored in your user settings.

Setting Default Business Areas

Large AAI environments can contain many business areas. Each business area can contain hundreds if not thousands of jobstreams. To help you focus on the data that you need, you can set business area filters in your user preferences. As a result, the different views in the thick client as well as the web UI display only data from your preferred business areas. However, this setting does not restrict your access to any other business area. You can always change the filter on the fly.

To set the business area, do the following:

  1. On the thick client, go to File > Preferences.

  2. On the Preferences dialog go to the Business Areas tab.

  3. By default, All Jobstreams is selected. This means that AAI displays the data of all business areas. Select it and click Remove to move it to the Available pane.

  4. Expand the list and select the business areas that you need, then click Add. Repeat this with all the business areas that you want to focus on.

  5. Click OK. This setting is stored in your user settings.

For more information on business areas, see Business Areas.

Gantt Chart View Options

Depending on the focus you want to have for your jobstreams, you can select one of the following options:

  • Use the same settings for all charts (default)

  • Use separate view settings for each chart

To set this option, go to File > Preferences > Gantt Chart View Options and select the relevant one. This setting persists for a session.

For information on the jobstream runs Gantt chart view on the new Web UI, see The Gantt View for a Jobstream Run.
