Deployment Profile Best Practices
Deployment profiles are used as separate environments; each main environment (for example: TEST, QA, PROD) may contain a subset of environments, which are represented in CDA deployment profiles.
Deployment profiles are used to reduce the number of individual environments to create. They can be used as subset environments and also to create temporary environments which may be used for a certain period of time.
Naming Conventions
The following naming convention is recommended:
- [<MAIN_ENV>]<SUBSET_ENV>[COMPONENT]
Profiles using _<COMPONENT> are used for testing purposes as deployments to specific components are managed through packages. In this case, only targets for this component shall be configured to this profile.
The following are acceptable naming standards for this entity:
-
TEST_FT
Example of a TEST environment deployment profile
-
CERT_IT
Example of a CERT environment deployment profile
-
PROD_FT_BACKEND
