Troubleshooting Low Performance of your CDA System

This topic will help you identify and troubleshoot the main known issues for low performance of your system.

Are the Workflows/Actions executing slowly?

Possible causes and solutions

  • High number of Targets per profile on an execution
  • High number of actions running in parallel within a workflow
  • High number of parallel executions in CDA, which causes ThreadPool exhaustion

    Try the following:

    • Add more CPU cores
    • Add more WPs to the AE
  • The agent running on the Target is on high load

Is your CDA instance slow?

Possible causes and solutions
  • High number of active users
  • Not enough CPs in the AE
  • Low disk space for Release Manager WebUI
Is your database slow?

Possible causes and solutions
  • DB Sizing: The connection to the database is slow (check the log files in the AE - U00003533 UCUDB: Check of data source finished: No errors. Performance CPU/DB: '1345371'/'1703 (1000/0.587046 s)')

    Try the following:

    • Increase network/speed capacity
    • Reduce distance to database
  • Database transactions are slow.

    Try the following:

    • Mirror or similar issues: reduce distance to mirror or use other (faster) fail safe features.
    • Check CPU speed / usage / count.
    • Check Memory size / usage.
    • Check storage speed / capacity / usage of other apps.
    • Check database maintenance (index reorg, a.s.o).
    • Check query optimizer (settings, statistics, ...)
    • Consult DB vendor for improvements
  • DB objects are duplicated
  • DB Configuration
  • High number of Applications/Components per client
  • High number of clients
Is your CDA server slow?

  • CPU Bottlenecks

    Try the following:

    • Increase CPU power
    • Add CPU cores
    • Add more RAM
  • Applications consume too much CPU power

    Try the following:

    • Run the AE exclusively on your nodes
  • Memory is slow:

    Try the following:

    • Add more memory
    • Install higher capacity RAM
    • Install faster RAM
    • Reduce memory consumption
  • The virus scanner slows down I/O‘s

    Try the following:

    • Do not run the virus scanner on your production node
Is the processing power of your network slow?

  • The system server is overloaded

    Try the following:

    • Upgrade the server
    • Add more servers
    • Upgrade network hardware like routers, hubs, and access points
