Moving, Importing, Exporting Objects

Automic Automation provides various ways of moving objects. You can move objects within the same Client. You can export objects from a Client and import them in a different Client within the same Automation Engine system. You can import objects into a different Automation Engine. You can export objects from an on-premises environment and import them in Automic SaaS.

This topic outlines all these possibilities and provides links to the topics that describe them in detail.

Moving Objects Within a Client

You use the Move function or the drag and drop feature to move objects or folders from one location in a Client to another one. For more information, see Moving Objects or Folders within a Client.

Transferring Objects from One Client to Another Within the Same Automation Engine System (On-premises)

You have the following possibilities to transfer objects within the same Automation Engine system:

  • Using the Export / Import functions

Use this option if you are not transferring large amounts of objects and if you want to be flexible as to where you want to import the objects in the target Client/system.

  • Using the Transport Case

Use this option if you want to transfer large amounts of objects.

You can use this option either in combination with the AE DB Utilities (AE Load, AE DB Unload, AE DB Change) or with the Import functionality. If you want to make mass changes in the objects that you transfer, use the Transport Case and the Utilities method.

For more information, see:

Transferring Objects from One Automation Engine System to Another (On-premises)

You have the same possibilities as with moving Clients within the same system, that is, Import / Export or Transport Case. The same recommendations apply.
