RULE Events

When an external event is posted to the REST endpoint, the IA Agent writes the received event to the topic named "events" in the Streaming Platform. The Rule Engine then reads the event topic and if a pattern is recognized a rule is triggered.

Types of Rules

There are two types of Rules that can be used to trigger an Event:

• Simple Rule
• State Change Rule

What you need to know before you start

• You should have some basic knowledge of AE Objects. See: Objects, Working with Objects and Events (EVNT).
• You should have some basic knowledge of AE Variable Objects. See: VARA Objects and XML VARA Objects.

Prerequisites

• Analytics version 2.0 or above.
• To define a rule you must first install the an Analytics rule. See: Installing an Analytics Rule.
