Assigning Release Automation Permissions
As an Administrator, you grant user or user groups permission to create main types and custom types in the Continuous Delivery Automation. For a user, you can assign the role of Release Automation Administrator, which grants create permission for all types.
Note: CDA Permissions are mapped to AE authorizations based on the configuration file *folder_authorization_mapping.config*
(WebUI folder: Automic\Release.Manager\WebUI
). Synchronization is performed when CDA roles or authorizations are edited, specifically:
- When an administrator role is revoked
- When CDA folder authorizations are modified
Important! When an administrator role is revoked ("User is Administrator" checkbox is deselected), all permissions defined for the user on the Automation Engine authorizations page are removed.
Note: You can grant permissions to a user or user group when you first create the user or user group definition or later when you edit the definition.
To Assign Release Automation Permissions
- Open the user or user group definition.
- Go to the Permissions page.
- To assign the user the Administrator role, select the User is Administrator checkbox above the table. All the checkboxes are selected and grayed out because an administrator automatically has permission to create all object and custom types.
Important! When the CDA Administrator flag is cleared, the general AE-authorizations * / * / * (R/W/X/D/C/S/P/M rights on all AE object types) are automatically removed and the standard set of CDA authorizations and proper folder authorizations are set.
- For a non-administrator user or a user group, select the checkbox for each type that the user or user group has permission to create.
If you grant permission to a branch on the tree list that has subordinate types, then the user or user group is allowed to create all its subordinate types.
To remove permission to a type or branch, deselect its checkbox.
- Click the Save button above the sidebar.
