Getting Started with CDA
This section walks you through the basics of CDA. To help you navigate it, it is organized in a chronological way.
First Steps
Are you new to Automic Continuous Delivery Automation (CDA)? If so, you may want to read About Automic Continuous Delivery Automation (if you have not done so yet) to get an overview of what CDA and its main components are. Reading CDA Architecture can also help you understand how the CDA components interact with each other. Once you have an overview of the product, the Getting Started documentation is the place to start. These topics introduce and walk you through the most important functions.
Prerequisites
The installation of the Base Components of the Automation Engine, the Agents, CDA (Installing CDA ) and any Additional Components relevant for your system setup is complete.
Overview
The topics include information on:
- How to prepare your browser before logging into CDA for the first time: Before Logging in for the First Time
- How to log into the system and change your password: Logging In and Out, Changing Passwords
- Which documentation topics might be worth reading depending on your role in the deployment & orchestration process. The following roles have been identified as typical for CDA/CDD users:
- Application Developer
- Operator
- Manager
- Administrator
- Release Manager
For more information, see CDA & CDD Roles, Useful Documentation Topics per Role.
- How the user interface is organized, with descriptions of the different perspectives: User Interface
- How the Automation Engine and CDA differ (useful for experienced Automation Engine users who are new to CDA): New to CDA but Experienced AE User
- How to use the online help to save time and find the information you need: Using the Documentation
- How to perform your first application deployment. In this topic we guide you through the process of creating and configuring entities in CDA to execute a deployment successfully. The steps are organized per role. See: Deploying Your First Application
Note: you can find more complex scenarios and deployment strategies in the CDA Deployment Scenarios section.
