SAP IBP Schedule Jobs
Automic Automation SAP IBP Schedule Jobs start and monitor SAP IBP cloud jobs on SAP IBP cloud systems. The SAP IBP Schedule Job that you create in Automic Automation represents the job on the SAP IBP cloud system, not its tasks. When you execute the SAP IBP Schedule Job, you trigger a run of the job in the target SAP IBP environment.
This page includes the following:
Defining Automic Automation SAP IBP Schedule Jobs
An Automic Automation SAP IBP Schedule Job definition is made up of the following pages:
-
Standard pages that are always available, no matter what type of object you are defining:
-
Additional pages that are always available for executable objects:
Note: The Login field on the Attributes page is not used for the SAP IBP Agent as it only requires a Connection object to establish the connection.
In addition, an Automic Automation SAP IBP Schedule Job consists of the following specific pages that we explain in this topic:
-
SAP IBP Schedule Job
-
Rapid Automation
SAP IBP Schedule Job
On the Schedule Job page you define the parameters relevant to run the job on the SAP IBP system.
-
SAP IBP Connection
Select the SAP IBP Connection object containing the relevant information to connect to the SAP IBP system.
To search for a Connection object, start typing its name to limit the list of the objects that match your input.
-
Job Template Name
Here you can select the job template that you want to execute.
-
Click the button to open the Templates dialog which contains the list of all available SAP IBP job templates.
-
Search for relevant template.
The Templates dialog by default opens the Filter pane where you can use the Job Template Text and/or Job Template Name criteria to narrow your search. The search is not case sensitive.
You can also use the Maximum Results field to define how many results (1 - 1000) should be displayed. By default, 50 results are displayed.
Click Filter to apply the filter criteria or Reset to clear the fields.
-
Once you have found the relevant template, click Choose.
-
-
Job Text
Optional. Short text for a particular job template.
If this field is left empty, it gets populated with the Job Text specified in the SAP IBP system. On the SAP IBP system, the respective Job gets the text -scheduled via Automic Automation added to the Job Text.
-
Job Username
Enter the user name of the user under which the job should run.
In the Process > Pre-Process page of the job definition, you can define variables to set the attributes of the SAP IBP Schedule Job definition. Since pre-process statements are executed in the Job header, they are executed before the job execution. For more information, see Pre-Process Page.
Rapid Automation
On this page you specify where to store the job, when to generate it and whether they include Agent log information.
Job Report
When you configure a Job, you define where to store the Job report and when to generate it in the Job Report section on the platform-specific page.
Where to Store the Report
You have two options. You can select one or both simultaneously:
-
Store to: Database means that when the Job has been executed, the process log available on the target system (on the Agent) is stored in the database.
When a Job has been executed on an Agent, the corresponding report is stored on the Agent computer. After the Automation Engine has written this data to the database, the report is automatically deleted from the Agent computer. If it cannot be deleted due to an error, the deletion process is not repeated and an error message is displayed.
- Store to: File means that the process log is stored as a file on the target system (Agent).
When to Generate the Report
You have two options:
-
Generate: Always means that the process log of the operating system is always written.
-
Generate: On error only means that the process log is kept when an error occurs. Example, when the Job is canceled or aborted.
Optional Reports
Select this option to include the Agent log in the Job report. This option is recommended for troubleshooting purposes.

Monitoring SAP IBP Schedule Jobs
When you execute the SAP IBP Schedule Job, the SAP IBP task is visible in the list of Tasks in the Process Monitoring perspective. You can check it as follows:
-
Go to the list of tasks in the Process Monitoring perspective.
-
Find the SAP IBP task. For more information, see Filtering Tasks.
-
Select the task and select the Details button to open a pane with information about the task execution.
The General and Job sections of the Details pane display information about the object configuration and its execution. The Object Variables section displays the information that the SAP IBP system reports back to Automic Automation:
-
Return code
-
Remote status
-
Job name
-
Job run count
-
Error
-
You can execute SAP IBP Schedule Jobs and cancel the corresponding tasks. Canceling means that the Automic Automation SAP IBP task is canceled as well as the SAP IBP job on the SAP IBP environment. If for some reason canceling the execution fails - for example, if you do not have the rights to cancel the execution - the execution remains active and that information is visible on the job report.
Also, if the Agent stops working or loses connection, the job execution stops, but resumes as soon as the Agent is connected again.
