Editing Objects
You use the Open or Open in New Window options to open objects and edit them. You can change all object properties except its name (you must use the Renaming Objects/Folders function for this). When opening an object for editing, take the Edit button on the toolbar into account. It indicates if the object is in read-only or in edit mode. If you open an object and a user is already editing it, the object is displayed in read-only mode (locked Edit button) and you cannot modify it.
This topic only covers the overall steps to edit an object. For detailed information on specific object properties, see the object description.
To Edit Objects
Select one or more objects do one of the following:
-
Double-click it (if you have selected only one).
This opens the object-specific definition page.
-
Right-click and select Open or click the button on the toolbar.
This opens one object-specific definition page per selected object.
-
Right-click it and select Open in New Window.
This opens one object-specific definition page per selected object, each in a different browser window.
Important Information on Workflows
When you open a workflow in a new window and select a task to edit it, the task opens in the main window (and not in the 'new' detached window). A pop up message is displayed on your screen to indicating it.
You modify the task in the main window. If you then switch back to the detached window and click F5 to refresh it, the changes you made in the main window are reflected there as well.
