This feature generates a forecast of Tasks that will run on a specific range of dates.
It works with DUAS Nodes of version V5.6 that support the simulation request (note that this request is implemented only in the latest patches, (please refer to release notes) also with the DUAS V6 nodes.
There are several ways to access the Workload Forecast menu:
In Monitoring mode -> Dollar Universe > Dashboard > Production Plans: select a Production plan and Workload Forecast menu.
In Monitoring mode -> Dollar Universe > Monitoring > Job Chains, select a job chain and Workload Forecast menu.
In Monitoring mode -> Dollar Universe -> Forecasting -> Workload Forecast
In Design mode -> Dollar Universe -> Job Design -> Tasks, select a Task and Workload Forecast menu.
In all cases the feature applies to the current Node.
Templates are ignored.
Actions
Select Tasks
You can select scheduled , cyclical and watcher tasks. Provoked Tasks, optional and templates are not listed.
From the Task list: Opens a new window where you can select tasks.
From Job Chains: Opens a new window where you can select Job Chains containing tasks. All scheduled, cyclical or watcher Tasks in the selected Job Chains are selected in the workload forecast as a result.
From Production Plans: Opens a new window where you can select Production Plans, which contain Job Chains, which in turn contain scheduled, cyclical or watcher Tasks.
Use the Filters button to reduce the list and check the box in front of the line to select the Task.
If the Unselect All button is not activated, the previous filter selection will be combined with the current filter selection.
Click Refresh to refresh the list, click Cancel to close the window without selection or click OK to validate the selection. In the latter case the list of selected tasks is displayed in the projected document schedule. You can click on Simulate if you modify the calculation.
Simulate
Runs the forecast.
Simulate with exceptions
Runs a forecast taking into account all exceptions as defined in Production Mode > Operations Settings.
Display mode
You can select:
List: To display the forecast as a list. Refer to section "Forecast".
GANTT: To display the forecast as a Gantt diagram by displaying one line per forecast execution.
Compact GANTT: To view the forecast as a Gantt chart by grouping all the forecast executions of the same task on the same line.
Timescale
Selects the unit of time displayed in the workload forecast:
From… To…
Define the time span over which the forecast will be calculated. The forecast can be generated if a range is defined: by default D to D+1 (in relation to the system date of the current Node). For extended date ranges, the calculation may be relatively long (this depends on the number of Tasks included and time span applied). The maximum length is one year.
Reporter Server
There are two solutions to calculate the forecast: with or without a Reporter Server. By default, no Reporter Server is selected.
If a Reporter Server is selected, the Job duration and the Session duration are taken from Reporter.
If no Reporter Server is selected, the Job durations are taken from Dollar Universe statistics. The Session duration is calculated from the sum of all the component Uproc executions (including HDP).
When the forecast is calculated for a Task, the Sessions are collapsed by default. However, clicking on the + will expand the Session.
In GANTT mode, for each Uproc and Session:
Place the mouse on a calculated date to display complete information about the future execution.
To achieve the calculated date of execution, select a line and right click. Select the option: Center on execution in the context menu. The diagram is then centered on the future execution.
In List mode, the following columns are displayed:
