UVMS Role

This section describes the characteristics of a Univiewer Management Server role.

A user can perform actions on a Node if he / she has the appropriate role on this node (by ways of his / her group).

Certain fields are not modifiable depending on the action selected. Don’t forget to click on Save to store each role definition.

General

• Type

  Univiewer Management Server. Displays the type of role being updated.

• Role

  Enter the name of the new role you want to create.

• Label

  Enter the description of the role.

Management Server Credentials

• Node administration

  Check this box if the role should have rights in Administrative mode for the Nodes (Nodes and Node Views) and on Monitoring and Audit (the Data base status is accessible by the security Administration).

• Security administration

  Check this box if the role should have rights in Administrative mode for the Security (Logins, System User Patterns, Groups and Roles), as well as for Monitoring & Audit (Database Status document).

• Alerting rules administration

  Check this box if the role should have rights in Monitoring mode for Alerting Rules (if he has an Operator’s role).

• Packages administration

  Check this box if the role should have rights for packages in Design mode. For an action in Administration mode, on the Node settings or Auto-patch packages, Node administration role is equally required.

  Packages filter: If you want to control access to certain packages, enter a filter meaning that only packages whose names map this filter can be seen and used, via the Univiewer Console GUI or through the Univiewer commands on object packages. Allowed filter are of type: A*, *A, A*B and *A*.

  You will need roles to access the Univiewer Console functions. Refer to the section Group.

• UniJob node registration

  Check this box to declare a UniJob (during the UniJob installation or to execute the unijob -install command).

• Dollar Universe node registration

  Check this box to declare Dollar Universe (during the installation of Dollar Universe or to execute the unims -register command).

• Allow password change

  This feature is only accessible to LDAP users. If this feature is not enabled, users will no longer have access to the Allow password change function, and it will be grayed out. Note that a UVMS administrator can always change the user’s password.

• Dollar Universe Explorer Administration

  Check this box to allow the user to declare Dollar Universe Explorer to UVMS during the installation of Dollar Universe Explorer or to allow Dollar Universe Explorer start-up and shutdown.
