This section details telemetry implemented in UVMS.
Telemetry is a foundational element of the Enterprise Software Portfolio License Agreement (PLA) model. It is mandatory for a customer under Enterprise Software PLA to enable telemetry and share the usage data. Dollar Universe starting with Version 6.10.01 has been enabled with Telemetry Usage Reporting capabilities.
Collected usage data includes actual usage of the product based on how it was licensed. We value your privacy and we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) data. Our privacy policy is located here. Usage Data that is collected and sent is stored in two files described below.
Reminder: No license is required to operate Dollar Universe and its components from version 6.10.01. Earlier versions can use the infinite licenses contained in the file goldkeys.txt located in the app /files directory of UVMS version 6.10.01 and following. The tracking of the used nodes is done via telemetry, which must be configured in UVMS from version 6.10.01.
Send Usage Data
Collected usage data must be sent to CA Technologies. You can choose one of this two methods:
Automatic Option to send Usage data
How to configure Telemetry Settings:
Configure telemetry settings in the UVMS node settings (see
Save settings.
Frequency: Usage data will be automatically sent to CA Technologies once a day between the hours of midnight and 3 am.
Before you configure UVMS to send telemetry data, ensure that the outbound traffic from the UVMS host to the port 443 is allowed. UVMS uses this port to send the telemetry data. You can optionally secure this port by using a proxy server to allow only authenticated access to this port.
Manual Option to send Usage data
How to send usage data manually:
Install the Product Usage Reporter on Windows or Linux from Support portal (sign in first). This is a browser based application that can be installed as a service on a Windows or Linux machine. Follow the instructions to install the application. Follow this link to access the software documentation.
The collected usage data is stored in the historical file described below: univiewer_server/<node>_MgtServer/data/<node>_MgtServer_<internal identifier>_Telemetry.txt.
Frequency: You have to manually report usage every quarter.
Where do I see the Usage Data?
Historical File
The historical file is intended for CA Technologies. It is located in the univiewer_server/<node>_MgtServer/data directory and is named <node>_MgtServer_<internal identifier>_Telemetry.txt (<internal identifier> is the PLA_INTERNAL_IDENTIFIER node setting value).
The information is collected daily and added to the existing historical file. If the file has been deleted, it is recreated identically. This file contains a maximum of one year of recorded data. It is transmitted automatically if PLA_ENABLED=Y. If a PLA has been agreed, and if data automatic sending is not possible, the file manual transmission to CA Technologies is the responsibility of the customer.
The historical file is structured as follows. Information is listed per product type (product_sku):
site_id
Your company's unique login site ID that is listed on your PLA and the Support portal. Value of the PLA_ENTERPRISE_SITE_ID "Enterprise site ID" node setting.
instance_id
Internally generated id for each instance of the product. Value of the PLA_INSTANCE_IDENTIFIER "Instance identifier" node setting.
product_sku
Product identifier:
sku_description
Official product name, see above. For Dollar Universe nodes, two nodes types are differentiated:
Dollar Universe manager for z/OS and all managers with a version prior to V6 are considered "ADUNAS990: Dollar Universe Workload Automation AS".
product_version
Maximum installed version. For example, if a Dollar Universe node is installed with a 6.3 version and another one with a 6.10 version, version 6.10 is displayed.
pla_enabled
Indicates whether the installation or upgrade is related to a new or additional planned usage under a Portfolio License Agreement (PLA). Value of the PLA_ENABLED "Enable PLA"
node setting: Y or N.
date_collected
Date on which data was collected, in YYYYMMDD format.
monthly_usage
Number of nodes of this product_sku. For Univiewer Console, only one console is counted, regardless of the actual number of consoles.
chargeback_id
Optional, business unit, environment, cost center, department ... to enable you to charge back to your respective area. Value of the PLA_INTERNAL_IDENTIFIER "Instance identifier" node setting.
domain_name
The domain name of your company. It is the last part of your company's email address. Value of the PLA_COMPANY_DOMAIN "Company domain for PLA" node setting.
Example:
Only one Dollar Universe node has activated manager(s). The node name or the manager(s) are not displayed.

Details File
The details file usable by the client. It is located in univiewer_server/<node>_MgtServer/data directory and named <node>_MgtServer_<internal identifier>_Telemetry_details.txt (<internal identifier> is the PLA_INTERNAL_IDENTIFIER node setting value).
The details file is overwritten everyday. It can be freely used by the UVMS administrator to know the deployment of products. It is not and should not be sent to CA Technologies.
The details file is structured in the following way. Information is listed for each type of node based on the products that are enabled (Product Name).
Product Name
Commercial name of the product(s) activated. For example:
SKU
Product identifier:
SKU Description
Official product name, see above. For Dollar Universe nodes, two nodes types are differentiated:
Dollar Universe manager for z/OS and all managers with a version prior to V6 are considered "ADUNAS990: Dollar Universe Workload Automation AS".
Date
Information collection time stamp in the UVMS date format: U_FMT_DATE.
Monthly Usage
Number of nodes containing all products listed in Product Name.
Node List
Names of couples (COMPANY,node) containing all products listed in Product Name.
Maximum Version
Maximum installed version. For example, if a Dollar Universe node is installed with a 6.3 version and another one with a 6.10 version, 6.10 is displayed.
Example:
The node WIN-18FN96QIEJO from the company UNI610 has a manager for SAP Solutions activated:
