Using the AAI Configuration Tool
The Automation Analytics & Intelligence Configuration Tool allows you and other AAI administrators to comfortably configure system settings, such as communication, database maintenance and other options, from a web-based interface. This topic provides instructions about how to login to the AAI Configuration Tool and then points you to topics that explain more about the various system and database parameters that are available to you through the tool.
The AAI Configuration Tool runs on a Webswing server, which enables you to work on it from an internet browser. To setup, customize, or manage the Webswing server, see Configuring Webswing for the AAI Configuration Tool.

Logging into the AAI Configuration Tool
You run the AAI Configuration Tool on your internet browser. To login use the following steps:
-
Open a new browser tab or window and, in the address bar, enter the URL for the AAI Configuration Tool. By default, it has one of the following formats, depending on the communication protocol your company uses:
-
For http: http://<AAI_Instance_Hostname>:8088/main
-
For https: https://<AAI_Instance_Host>:8488/main
The hostname is the same as the AAI instance that the configurations will apply to. The port numbers here are the default port numbers. These can be configured differently. You or another administrator can change them, if required. For information, see Changing the Port for the AAI Configuration Tool.
-
-
On the login page, enter the following credentials.
-
Login Username: masteradmin
-
Login Password: Ma5ter@dminPassw0rd
The Username is always the same. The password might be different. The password here is the default password. You or another administrator can change it. For information, see Changing the Admin User Password for the AAI Configuration Tool .

The Automation Analytics & Intelligence Configuration Tool opens in a window on the page.
Tips for Working with the AAI Configuration Tool
When working with the AAI Configuration Tool, it can be helpful to know the following:
-
You can grab and drag the window to position it elsewhere on the page.
-
Only one session can be active at one time. If you log in from another browser/system, it will log you out of the first session.
If you have multiple running instances of AAI on the same system, the AAI Configuration Tool for each AAI instance needs to have its own port number assignments. If you don't know them, ask your main AAI system administrator which URL to use for each instance. With the different URLs, you can access the different instances from different browser windows or tabs at the same time.
-
There is only one user, masteradmin, for the AAI Configuration Tool.
This means that if you are using the AAI Configuration Tool and another person logs in with the masteradmin credentials, your session will close. Because system configuration is typically, and should be, in the hands of very few people, the communication among those should be quite manageable .
-
When you close the browser tab or window where the AAI Configuration Tool is running, any unsaved changes are not lost. When you return to the AAI Configuration Tool, you can continue where you left off. (The Apply button will be active. Only when you apply the changes, do they get updated to the configuration.)
-
There is a programmed session timeout amount that will log you out of the AAI Configuration Tool after a period of inactivity.
Overview of the AAI Configuration Options
The AAI Configuration Tool window contains tabs for the different groups of system configuration options for the related AAI instance. For information about each tab and how to work with it, see the related topic:
You can also define some of these configuration parameters using the Configuration Tool CLI, see Configuration Tool Command Line Interface .
