Upgrading AAI

This section guides you through upgrading AAI and the corresponding components. For most upgrades, it is not necessary to go to an intermediate release of the software.

Use the compatibility matrix (compatibility matrix) to check all relevant AAI components and prerequisites for vendor, version or setup information (Java version, browser compatibility and so on). For more information, see Compatibility Information.

Downloading the Product or Solution

Make sure you have downloaded the relevant product bundle or solution. For more information on how to download the relevant component(s), see Downloads.

This section includes the following pages:

Note:

If your version of AAI is 4.x or older, contact Broadcom support.

Important!

As of version 6.0.2, the link to launch the main AAI page changed from http{s}://hostname:port/jaws to http{s}://hostname:port/aai.

If you have a desktop shortcut to access a version prior to 6.0.2 of the AAI main client/UI, you have to delete that shortcut and any local copy of the jaws.jnlp file so that the upgraded software can download the new version of the .jnlp file and regenerate the desktop shortcut.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Delete any AAI (JAWS) desktop shortcuts.

  2. Search for all copies of jaws.jnlp on the local client hard drive and delete them.

  3. Clear the browser's temporary files.

  4. Re-launch the classic UI from the main launch page (http{s}://hostname:port/aai).

Upgrade Steps

As a system administrator, you upgrade your existing AAI system to the latest version.

Important !

Use the compatibility matrix (compatibility matrix) to find the relevant information on supported versions, setup, or prerequisites. Check all AAI components and prerequisites for vendor, version or setup information. For more information, see Compatibility Information.

When upgrading the AAI server and connectors, make sure you follow the steps listed below to avoid any issues:

  1. Take down the connectors.

You only need to take down connectors that you want to upgrade.

  2. Upgrade and start your AAI system.

  3. Upgrade and start each connector.

You can upgrade the Reporting Server at any time. You do not need to shut down the AAI Server nor take down the connectors.
