The Default Dashboard

When you initially log into AAI, the first page that opens is the Dashboard page and it contains two pre-defined and pre-loaded tabs. The tabs contain widgets of data insights that can give you an immediate status of key aspects of your system health. Having these pre-defined defaults, although useful to you at any level of familiarity with AAI , is particularly helpful to newcomers to AAI. Right when you start working with AAI and without having to configure anything for yourself, you benefit from the visibility into your automation environment that AAI offers.

The Default Dashboard Tabs

There are two pre-defined Dashboard tabs that are loaded by default for every new user. They are the following:

  • System Overview

This is the first tab that you see when you login to AAI the first time. This tab contains several widgets that each show you a different aspect of your automation environment. For more information, see The System Overview Dashboard Tab.

  • Business Overview

This is the second tab that you have on your Dashboard when you login to AAI the first time. This tab contains only one widget, called Jobstream Monthly Performance Over Last Year. This is based on Business Area Monthly Performance data insight. As such, this widget shows you the overall monthly performance of business areas and their jobstreams over the last 12 months. Success is measured by the percentage of jobstream runs that met their SLA deadlines within a calendar month. The degree of success is depicted in a heat map that uses colored cells to show you at first glance how whether the jobstreams have been regularly successful (green) or frequently failing to meet their SLAs (red), and other shades for the success levels in between.

To understand how to read the widget and how to use it fully, see The Business Area Monthly Performance Data Insight.

Tips for Success on the Default Dashboard

Since AAI is a browser-based solution, you will find most navigation fairly intuitive. The following tips can be helpful as you work with the default Dashboard widgets and find your way around the Dashboard and AAI:

  • If you find that you want to return to a previous page, use your browser's back button to step your way back.

  • To keep the current page open when opening a link, you can right-click links and choose to open the destination in a new browser tab or window.

  • To get back to the System Dashboard, click Dashboard at the top of the AAI navigation pane on the left.

  • After opening AAI the first time, any changes that you make to the default Dashboard tabs are retained when you leave the Dashboard and when you logout of AAI.

  • You can modify the widgets on the default Dashboard tabs and you can even delete them if you want. They are intended only as a starting point for you.

Note:
Why no data on system dashboard, why no data on default dashboard,

Although you do not need to know anything about using AAI to use the System Dashboard, you might not see data on all the widgets. This happens with the related key data structures have not been defined yet, specifically, jobstreams and business areas. This setup is the large task of someone who acts as the business area coordinator for the AAI implementation. For information, see Business Implementation.
