As an AAI operator or jobstream administrator, when monitoring and working with a jobstream, you sometimes need to go a level deeper to discover why jobstreams behave as they do. This is particularly true if a job fails or if it runs for much longer than expected. Since every job in the system is continuously predicted, AAI provides both accurate real-time information on the job runs and comprehensive historical data. With the job details AAI provides the zoom-in capability from a broader context (the jobstream) to the specifics (the job). The job details contain the complete information about the configuration of the job. If it has errors that are having an impact on the jobstream run, you can discover them here. Based on the result of your investigation, you can then suggest job design improvements and scheduler optimizations that positively affect the job and, ultimately, the jobstream runs.

You find the information about the job definition, design and runs (durations, average duration, history and so forth) on two pages:

  • Jobs list containing the most basic data on the job. It provides links to the individual job details.

  • Job-specific details displayed in four tabs:

    • Basic Information, displaying most of the properties of the job

    • Related Jobs and Jobstreams, with details about predecessors, successors, children, hierarchy and parentage

    • Average Runs, with details about average runs for this job

    • Run History, with details about the job runs

Typically, you start your investigation as follows:

  1. Search for jobs.

  2. Access the job details.

The topics in this section explain where and how to work with the job details:
