Timeline View - Toolbar

The timeline view includes a toolbar with different functions that allow you work with and access properties and details for the items listed in the timeline view to assist you in your analysis of a particular run.

The following functions are available on the toolbar:

  1. Find Next: Allows you to find a job or box (group) in the hierarchy and timeline by name.

    Clicking this button launches the Find Job dialog where you can search for jobs where the job name Starts with, Ends with, Contains, or Matches (Reg. Ex.) a specific criteria. Once you have defined the search criteria and clicked the Find first button, the Find next button is active.

  2. Expand/Collapse All: Allow you to expand a jobstream to display all jobs and boxes (groups) within and to collapse the jobstream to the highest level view. You can use the scaling scroll bar to expand each box (group) and display a list of jobs in the box (group). The expanded box (group) is marked with a blue border.

  3. Expand Critical Path: Allows you to expand a jobstream but including only those jobs and boxes (groups) on the critical path. If a box (group) is on the critical path, all of the jobs inside that box (group) are also included. For more information, see Critical Path - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  4. Go to Previous/Next Job in Critical Path: Allow you to navigate up (previous) and down (next) the jobs on the critical path. The dependency lines are turned off by default. For more information, see Critical Path - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  5. Go to Target Job: Allows you to go directly to a target job in the hierarchy and timeline.

  6. Job/Jobstream/Machine Details: Allows you to see details for either a job (box/group), a jobstream, or a Machine/Agent. For more information, see Details - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  7. Show Critical Path: Allows you to toggle the lines rendered between critical path jobs/boxes (groups) on and off. The line is displayed in red. The historical critical path that leads to the Target Job are displayed and the upstream dependencies are hidden by default.   8. Show Cross-instance Dependencies: Allows you to turn cross-instance dependency lines on and off in the Gantt Chart view. The line is displayed in green.

  9. Show Predecessors/Successors of Selected Job: Allow you to turn predecessor/successor lines on and off in the Gantt Chart view. The lines are displayed in blue and light blue respectively.

  10. Show Average Durations: Allows you to display all jobs in the jobstream that are running shorter or longer than their average duration; thus allowing you to determine delays in your jobstream.   11. Show/Hide No Runs: Allows you to displays jobs that did not run during your target run time period. For more information, see View Settings - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  12. Show/Hide Unlinked Runs: Allows you to display jobs that ran during your target run but are not linked. For more information, see View Settings - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  13. Show Job Interval in Upper View: Allows you to display yellow vertical timelines in the upper view corresponding to the job interval. For more information, see View Settings - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  14. View Settings... Allows you to select the Lines, Average Durations, and Runs that are used globally for all jobstream Gantt Chart views. For more information, see Details - Toolbar and Pop-Up Menu Options.

  15. Help: Displays an HTML page listing all of the icons used in AAI and their definitions. For more information, see .

  16. Show/Hide machine usage: Allows you to display or hide the Machines/Agents available. If you have are not showing the Machines/Agents available, you cannot access the Machine Details. For more information, see Machine/Agent Details.

  17. Scaling Scroll Bar: Allows you to scale the jobstream analysis timeline to view more of a longer jobstream, or expand a shorter one. This allows you to see the time increments more easily. You can either use the scale slider or the reduce (-) and enlarge (+) buttons to see the effect.

    Tip:

    Using the scale slider together with a shared, two monitor set up can give you an even more expanded view, particularly useful for large, complicated jobstreams.

  18. Print: Click the printer icon to print the timeline view.
