Renaming a User

Use the steps here to change the name of a user definition. This does not change the internal name. Instead this changes the "Title" of the user, which is the name that the user logs into Automic products and that appears on screens and reports. The internal name is unique and cannot be changed after a user is created. To change anything else about a user definition, you need to edit the user as described in Editing a User.

When you rename a user in the AWIAutomic-Produkt: Übersichtliche und einfach zu bedienende Weboberfläche, mit welcher der Zugriff auf verschiedene Funktionalitäten der Automation Engine möglich ist., the title of the user definition in the Automation EngineDiese Komponente steuert ein Automation Engine-System. Besteht aus verschiedenen Serverprozessen. is updated. Whether a user information is updated in any other Automic backend system depends on what you have installed and what you define. For complete information about this, see About User Management in the AWI.

Steps...

  1. Start at the Users overview page.
  2. Right click the user definition and from the context menu that appears, select Rename.

    The Rename User window appears.

  3. In the Name box type the new user name that the user will use to log into Automic products, and then click OK.

To assign a user to a department or change the user's department, type the user name followed by a slash (/) and then the department name. For example, USER101/DEPT1.

If you use LDAP on the client, the department has to match the Domain name used in the LDAP configuration so that AE can identify the user location and synchronize it.

  4. Click OK.
