Getting Started with the Archive Browser

Welcome to your new historical data workspace. You have successfully logged in and are ready to investigate past Job failures, audit system events, or review operator notes. Because the application indexes your extracted archive files, you can perform lightning-fast searches across millions of historical records without needing an active connection to your live database.

Before you begin analyzing your data, ensure that your historical data has already been successfully exported from Automic Automation using the AE DB Archive utility (ucybdbar).

Your Default Workspace: The Executions View

When you log in to the Archive Browser, the application immediately opens the Executions view. This is your primary hub for historical analysis.

At the very top of the screen, three prominent summary cards (Total, OK and Abend) provide an instant health check of your archived environment, showing the total number of records alongside the exact breakdown of successful (OK) versus failed (Abend) runs. Below these cards, the main data grid displays a continuously scrolling list of all your indexed task executions. From this single screen, you can scroll through millions of records, apply precise filters to isolate specific failures, and drill down to read the raw log files associated with any past run.

First Steps

Once you log in, you can start extracting value from your historical data immediately. Here is a high-level overview of a typical troubleshooting workflow:

Verify the Index Status: Look at the top-right corner of the interface. If you see an Index Ready cloud icon, the application has finished scanning your archive folders, and your data is fully searchable.
Choose Your Workspace: Decide what type of data you need to analyze. Stay on the Executions list to investigate specific task runs. Click Messages to audit system-wide events.
Narrow Down the Data: You are looking at millions of records. Click the Filter button to apply criteria like a specific Run ID, Time Frame, or Status to instantly reduce the list to the exact events you care about.
Inspect the Details: Found the execution you were looking for? Double-click the row to drill down further. You can immediately read the raw Reports generated during the run or review any Comments left by operators.
