Defining RULE Event Objects

When an external event is posted to the REST endpoint, the IA Agent writes the received event to the topic named "events" in the Streaming Platform. The Rule Engine then reads the event topic and if a pattern is recognized a rule is triggered.

Types of Rules

There are two types of Rules that can be used to trigger an Event:

• Defining a Simple Rule
• Defining a State Change Rule

What you need to know before you start

• You should have some basic knowledge of AE Objects. See: Object Classes and Object Types, Working with Objects and Event Object (EVNT).
• You should have some basic knowledge of AE Variable Objects. See: Variables (VARA) and XML Variables.

Prerequisites

• Analytics version 2.0 or above.
• Event Engine User License.
• To define a rule you must first install the an Analytics rule. See: Installing an Analytics Rule.
