A Job Chain is a Business View containing non-template Tasks that are subject to execution.
A Job Chain is a filtering view of a multi Node execution. An overall status can be associated with its execution, refer to section "View Status Definition".
A Job Chain can be created in two ways:
Job Chains can be monitored in two ways:
Calculation of the overall status of the Job Chain:
The Job Chain definitions and associated criteria are loaded dynamically from the I/O server together with the status calculation window.
The Jobs by Node list is built.
A permanent connection to the CDJ server of each remote Node is established to retrieve job status (sent by the CDJ server).
Depending on job status and the calculation window, the status of the Job Chain is calculated and sent to the local I/O server to be recorded in the corresponding data file.
Representation of the status of the Uprocs and Sessions in the Job Chain:
Updating the status of Uprocs in the Job Chain is handled by the CDJ server.
Only the status associated with the Job Chain (Uproc/MU or Session/Uproc/MU) are actually loaded up to the Job Chain for network performance reasons.
Session readability can be improved by providing an overall status, whereby, Session status assumes the “worst” Uproc status in the Session.
If the execution of the Session header Uproc was purged from the list of job runs, the graph can not be animated. The UVMS node setting DISPLAY_ISOLATED_JOBS_IN_JC (Monitoring category) enables to display job runs (whose status is known) in the list of jobs runs attached to the Job chain.
New, Update
Opens a Job Chain declaration window. Refer to section: Job Chains Editor. In update mode, all characteristics can be modified except the name.
Monitor
Displays the non-modifiable contents of the Job Chain to monitor its execution. Refer to section: Job Chains Monitor.
Enable status
Reactivates the status calculation of the selected Job Chain. The range of status values is described below. To define the status, refer to section: View Status Definition.
Disable status
Disables the status calculation of the selected Job Chain. The overall status of the Job Chain is shown as "Not activated". This option may be used when developing a View to avoid needlessly loading the BVS (server in charge of calculating the statuses). Possible status values are:
Convert
Displays a window that lists the Business Views created in Dollar Universe Console in Windows to convert them into Job Chains usable by UVC. Once the conversion is completed, these Business Views can no longer be used in Dollar Universe Windows Console.
In the "Convert legacy Business View into Job Chain" window select the Business Views to convert and click Convert. The Business View is converted and the Job Chain Editor is open. Refer to section "Job Chains Editor".
Workload forecast
Open the workload forecast document for the tasks defined in the job chain. Refer to section "Workload Forecast" for the description of this document.
