Administration Perspective

You are a administrator user; you are in charge of user management. You also manage, install, and deploy Agents to keep the system running. You perform all administrative tasks and have access to the complete system.

You work mainly in the Administration perspective, where you can monitor your users and centrally manage the Agents.

The Administration perspective has the following main elements:

Navigation Pane

The left pane lets you navigate through all areas in the Administration perspective.

Although Automic Automation for AIOps gives you access to all functions available for an on-premises installation, in your SaaS context you will not need all of those functions. This list identifies all areas and outlines the ones that you will need:

  • User Management

Users and User Group objects and their respective user Connections.

  • Clients

A Client is a self-contained environment configured to depict your business as best suits you.

  • Queues

List of all Queue objects in the client, indicating their status and settings.

  • Agents & Groups

Agents are programs that allow you to establish the connection between your system and Automic Automation. For more information, see Agents.

The Upgrade History page provides detailed information about agent upgrades.

  • AE Management

Provides information on the basic system components and functions, such as Processes and Utilization or the Database.

  • Cache

Information that is called from the database and stored in the server input buffer to be accessed quickly when required. Cache improves the performance of your system as it is less time-consuming than repeatedly calling the database.

  • Exits

Password exits are used to verify or reject attempts to log in to the system from a custom-developed program library.

  • Quarantine

Internal system messages that were intercepted because they were not processed correctly or because the server was not able to process them at all.

  • License

This version has no technical license restrictions.

  • Service Level Objectives

Tools to support Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They depict the parties, the services, the expectations regarding those services, and the reactions in case the expectations are met or not met.

  • Packs

Optional set of functionality to be used on top of the Automation Platform. Packs range from modifying windows services up to complex workflow templates for deployments of enterprise applications. For more information, see Packs in the Administration Perspective.

Main Page

The main page is your workspace. Select an option on the navigation pane to access its main page. The list provides the most important information at a glance. You can hide and show columns, sort them, and so on, to best suit your needs. Right-click a record in the list to open a context-menu with all the functions available to that record.

For more information, see Working with Tables.

Toolbar

The toolbar is page-specific and provides shortcuts to the most frequent functions. The following elements are common to all pages:

  • Search field to find records in the list
  • Filter button to open a pane on the right to restrict the contents of the list according to multiple criteria.
  • Export button to export the contents of the list to a .csv file
  • Refresh button to update the view

Filter Pane

Displayed if you select the Filter button on the toolbar, it allows you to restrict the number of records in the list.
