Defining Objects
Automic Automation objects consist of several definition pages. As a developer and object designer, after adding an object you start configuring it by defining the relevant attributes on its definition pages. Some of these pages are standard and available for all object types. Others are available for some object types only. This topic provides links to the description of those pages. Click the links below to access them.
Important! Check Broadcom Software Academy. There is a course available for this topic. For more information, see the Education section at the end of this page.
Tip: You may need to work with many objects, lists and monitors simultaneously. To make your work easier, you can open them in different browser windows and arrange them side by side on your screen. For more information about this and other useful functions, see Opening and Arranging Multiple Views.
Defining Objects: Pages Common to All Object Types
All object types have the following definition pages:
-
General Page: The General page contains the following sub-pages:
-
The Sync page is available for executable objects only
-
The Runtime page is available for executable objects only
-
The Object Authorizations page is available for all object types.
-
-
All objects have a Version Management page that lists all the versions of the object.
-
All objects have a Documentation page where developers and object designers can enter information that is relevant to understand the cnfiguration of the object.
Defining Objects: Object-Specific Pages
Each object has at least one definition page with parameters that are specific to that object type only. Some objects have more than one such pages. For example, each Event (EVNT) object has a definition page that is specific to the type of Event. Additionally, all Event objects have a sub-page, namely the Event Process page.
Here is the list of object-specific pages:
-
Assigning Clients to Agents (HSTA)
-
Clients (CLNT)
-
User-Defined VARA Objects (VARA)
Defining Objects: Other Common Pages
The following pages are common to certain object types:
-
Some executable objects have process pages where developers and object designers can add functional logic to them using the Automation Engine scripting language. There are various process pages: Pre-Proces, Process, Post-Process and Child Post Process.
-
All executable object have an Attributes page where developers and object designers define settings that are essential for their execution.
-
Output sub-pages
Jobs have two Output sub-pages, External Output Files (see Registering External Output Files) and Output-Scan (see Scanning the Output Files). File Transfers have Output-Scan pages only.
-
All executable objects have a Variables page where developers and object designers can define variables that are specific to the object that they are defining.
-
All executable objects have a PromptSets page where developers and object designers can configure prompts that can be populated with data either manually when the object executes or dynamically though variables.
-
All executable objects have a Rollback page that lets developers and object designers configure how to restore tasks (that is, executed objects) to an earlier stage in the execution process.
